Patient Pathology Consult Program

Make an appointment by calling the Pathology Department at 978-937-6341

Lowell General Hospital offers a collaborative service from our Pathology Department to enhance physician/patient communication and provide a new level of Complete connected care.

All patients (program is not limited to cancer patients) who have undergone a biopsy or other laboratory testing will have the opportunity to review their reports and slides with an in-person consultation.

Program Hours and Location

Consultations will be held by appointment only at the Women's Wellness Center at the Lowell General Hospital Main Campus on Tuesdays from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Patients will be able to view their pathology images and results in a private clinic setting equipped with a microscope, camera and large screen TV.

Dr. Lija Joseph, Medical Director, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Lowell General Hospital will be seeing patients along with members of her pathology team. The patient’s primary care team (physician, NP, etc.) will be notified of the patient request, the date and time of the consult, and have the opportunity to be present during the consultation in person or via conference call.

Consultations are 30 minutes in length, and in most cases covered by insurance. Please check with your insurance provider if any co-pay is required. The out-of-pocket fee without insurance is $80. A referral from your physician, NP, or specialist is required.
