Voiding Cysto Urethrogram (VCUG)

This is a test that is done by placing a small tube in the bladder through the urethra. The bladder is filled with an X-ray dye. Conditions diagnosed by a VCUG include:

  • Posterior urethral valves
  • Urethral stricture
  • Ureterocele
  • Vesicoureteral reflux
  • Bladder stones
  • Bladder tumors

There is no preparation required for this exam. However, a physician's order and an appointment are required. Your doctor's office will schedule your appointment for you.
