What are trigger point injections?

• These injections are performed to target musculoskeletal pain and can provide quick relief of pain stemming from small areas of muscle that are irritated or contain “knots.”
• A trigger point is a point in a muscle that, when pressed upon, causes pain to radiate to another area in a characteristic fashion.
• The injections may contain a local anesthetic or corticosteroid.
