If your doctor has ordered a Thyroid Scan they want to see this organ to find nodules, lumps or test the condition of the tissue. For this test, you will come to the hospital to take a pill that has radioactive properties. The radioactive tracer then moves through your body and is processed in the thyroid. After 48 hours, the doctors are able to use the nuclear scanner to see the thyroid.
