Board certified in Hematology, Dr. Tuncer completed fellowships in Hematology and Oncology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, and in Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA, and received her medical degree from University of Istanbul in Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Tuncer’s clinical interests are malignant hematology, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia and multiple myeloma, and cancer thrombosis.
Dr. Tuncer was inspired to become a Hematology and Medical Oncology specialist during her early years of medical training. “I discovered that hematology-oncology is a special discipline which offers a unique opportunity to be a part of cutting-edge medical science as well as have the privilege of touching people’s lives in their most vulnerable times,” says Dr. Tuncer. “Cancer medicine is an ideal study for those who crave intellectual challenge and are ready to go the extra mile to make a difference in people’s health and lives.”

Outside of work, Dr. Tuncer enjoys reading nonfiction, playing the piano, collecting seashells, fishing, swimming, spending time with friends and traveling. Being born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey and having friends and family in numerous cities and countries gives her a reason to travel regularly. Dr. Tuncer has a young daughter who also enjoys fishing, swimming and airplanes.
