Circle Health Introduced as New Model of Healthcare Delivery as Hospital Merger is Complete
Lowell General Hospital and Saints Medical Center announced today that they have finalized their merger agreement and that the two hospitals will formally combine as Lowell General Hospital effective July 1, 2012.
The two hospitals also announced today the establishment of Circle Health, Inc. Circle Health is not only the parent company of Lowell General but is also an umbrella organization that will align primary and specialty physician practices along with other local and regional health providers in a system-based approach to deliver an experience of "Complete connected care" to the communities it serves.
There will be a new Circle Health board which will oversee the combined Lowell General.
Lowell General President and CEO Normand E. Deschene will also serve as CEO for Circle Health.
"By bringing together the energy and commitment of these two organizations who collectively share a vision for high-quality healthcare that is delivered with thoughtfulness, caring and superior service, we are laying the foundation for Circle Health as a system of care that will give new meaning to the term 'integration,'" says Deschene, "This is a profoundly important moment in the history of healthcare in the greater Lowell region."
Under the final agreement, there will continue to be two hospital campuses and there will be no immediate changes to where and by whom patients receive care.
