“Italia is a compassionate nurse who gives every patient the utmost care and attention,” says Rebecca Angove, RN, Case Manager, of September’s Star Performer, Italia Stavrou. “Her commitment and dedication to each patient and to her profession is truly unmatched.”

Italia has worked as a nurse at Lowell General Hospital for the past eight years. She earned her BSN and is a certified medical surgical nurse. Italia has also been a nurse preceptor for the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program since 2017. “I have a passion for orienting new grad nurses and integrating them into the Lowell General family,” says Italia.

“Italia is a diamond among nurses. She approaches her patients without judgment and offers help in any way she can,” says Cheri Meuse, RN, Case Manager. “Her assessments of her patients are objective and allow her to deliver the care they need.”

Cheri adds, “As a case manager, I know that each patient’s discharge is safe and complete. Italia’s attention to detail is excellent. She exemplifies both what I think a nurse should be and as a patient, what I would want my nurse to be.”

Rebecca says, “Italia is a pleasure to work with and is a team player, always willing to help out her coworkers in any way that she can.”

“Italia is a kind and caring nurse with a gentle demeanor who never loses her cool,” says Cheri. “She has a soft, soothing approach, and does everything with a smile. I have also been a patient of Italia and experienced her compassion.”

Italia lives in Dracut with her daughter, Toula Eleni, and her son, Luca Domenic. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, including attending her children’s many sporting events and activities. Italia also volunteers as a baby cuddler in the Pediatrics Department and Special Care Nursery, serves as a parent chaperone at her children’s school, and is active in her church.

Congratulations Italia! You're a star!
