“Alexis eagerly takes on the sickest patients in the ICU. She has a strong desire to learn new things and to continue to develop her critical care skills,” says Clinical Manager Valerie Fernald of October’s Star Performer, Alexis Casimir. “Her patients get great care and the patients’ families appreciate Alexis’ calm demeanor and presence at the bedside.”

Alexis has worked as a registered nurse at Lowell General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit for almost three years. She says that she chose to work in healthcare to be able to help people, and because she has a fascination with science and evolving medical technologies. “I also wanted to work in a profession where I will always have the opportunity for continued learning and professional growth,” says Alexis.

“Alexis delivers patient care using all of the ICU best practices and protocols in place to ensure that our ICU patients get the best care possible,” says Valerie. “She is determined to do her best every shift that she works, and is excited to learn and be a great ICU nurse.”

Valerie adds, “Alexis is always willing to help her peers with anything they need. She joined the Unit Based Council so that she can share her ideas to make the unit a great place to be a critical care nurse.”

Her coworkers have sent Alexis numerous Spotlight on You recognitions for her outstanding work. One Spotlight said, “Alexis always goes above and beyond. She is the definition of a team player. From doing charge, to picking up another patient on an extremely busy night, she does it all and also gives emotional support to her coworkers. I am so glad I get to have the pleasure of working with Alexis!”

Alexis lives in Manchester, NH. In addition to her work at Lowell General Hospital, she attends school full time and expects to complete her acute care nurse practitioner program in May. Outside of work Alexis enjoys traveling.

Congratulations Alexis! You're a star!
