“Tyler is always willing to go above and beyond and well outside the scope of any job description to provide a helping hand to anyone in need: patients, visitors and fellow employees alike,” says Brendan Riley, Manager of Security and Emergency Management, of November’s Star Performer, Tyler Michaud. “He is the definition of a calm, confident, steady hand during crisis situations.”

Tyler is a Senior Security Officer and Evening Shift Leader, and has worked for Lowell General Hospital for the past three years. He leads the second shift Security Team and ensures patient and staff safety.

Brendan says, “Tyler has always been great at all aspects of the job, and this year he went out of his way to take initiative and to earn a leadership role. He has proven his commitment to the team and to Lowell General Hospital through his consistent actions. Since taking the reins as shift leader, Tyler has done an outstanding job coaching and mentoring less experienced security officers. He is revered by everyone on all three shifts, and has a knack for getting the very best out of the teammates he is working with on any given day.”

The Star Performer nominators recognized Tyler for many specific acts of leadership and professionalism with patients including assisting with a medical emergency, working diligently to locate the owner of an item left at the hospital, and effectively responding to security needs.

“Tyler has worked hard at mastering the art of verbal and nonverbal
de-escalation, empathic listening, and limit setting while also becoming a highly skilled tactician. Also, he has worked closely with clinical leaders to develop resources for more effective communication strategies with Autism Spectrum Disorder patients, and is championing the creation of a more therapeutic environment,” adds Brendan.

Tyler lives in Pepperell with his wife Danielle. He says that working in healthcare provides the ideal environment to help individuals in need and to work with a professional and hard-working team. Outside of work Tyler enjoys riding his motorcycle and playing the guitar.

Congratulations Tyler! You're a star!
