“Laura is a wonderful teacher and is requested by staff whenever training is needed,” says Karen Villemaire, Practice Manager of the Diabetes and Endocrine Center, of January’s Star Performer, Laura Henckler. “She shares her knowledge of billing, making it easier for staff to understand the billing process, and she represents the organization with professionalism, positivity and compassion. She is an inspiration to us all!”
Laura has worked at Lowell General since 2008 and earned her credentials as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and as a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) while at Lowell General. She works with the hospital’s Employed Physician practices, and is also a presenter during staff orientation for the department. Laura says she chose to work in healthcare because she wanted to do her part in helping people.
“There isn’t a day that goes by that Laura isn’t helping a coworker, or other department or practice with something,” says Jessica Teixeria, Manager of Business Operations. “Laura continually expresses her gratitude for the opportunity to learn new things and work with new departments.”
“When we merged three practices, Laura was sent to help train the staff. She showed up every day with a smile and can-do attitude,” says Karen. “Not only did she train the staff, she jumped in to help check in and check out patients. She did whatever was needed to get the job done. It was a challenging transition, but Laura never wavered in her positive attitude.”
Jessica adds, “Laura is my go-to when we have service lines that need billing help and she has been a part of every acquisition. She has extraordinary patience, works diligently to resolve issues, and understands the importance of the full circle of care.”
Laura lives in North Chelmsford with her husband Chuck, daughter Katie, and son Chuckie. Outside of work she loves to travel and spend time with family, friends, and all her pets at their camp on Swanzey Lake in New Hampshire.
Congratulations Laura! You're a star!
