Excellence in Continued Professional Development

Kristin has been a member of the intensive care team for nearly two years, and has taken on the challenge of learning new concepts in critical care. She has taken many courses including the Essentials of Critical Care Orientation, balloon pumps, and Impella® device within the past year. She also attended the national teaching conference for critical care nurses where she learned about enteral nutrition. She shared this information with her unit based council and now it is being used to develop a performance improvement project for the ICU-G.

Kristin’s favorite part of working in the ICU is the letters and cards they receive from patients and families. While she loves reading the “Thanks for saving my loved one’s life,” equally and many times even more special are the “thanks for maintaining my loved one’s dignity, thanks for advocating for them, thanks for alleviating their suffering.” She says it is a true honor and privilege to care for ICU patients.

When Kristin isn’t working, she enjoys spending summers in York Beach, traveling to Florida and the Bahamas, and crafting gifts for family and friends.

Congratulations, Kristin!
