2019 Event Summary
Golf Challenge Raises Over $400,000 for Saints Renovation

The 24th Annual Lowell General Hospital Golf Challenge, held on Monday, August 19th at The International in Bolton, MA, drew a crowd of 225 attendees for a fantastic day of golf and to raise significant funds for the hospital and patients. Thanks to many generous sponsors and supporters, including Presenting Sponsors Cerner and Enterprise Bank, the event raised more than $400,000 for the hospital’s next capital project, the renovation and expansion of the Saints Campus Emergency Department.
Known as one of the area’s premier golf tournaments, golfers were treated to breakfast before heading out on The International’s award-winning Pines and Oaks courses, where they were served an on-course barbeque lunch. Golf was followed by a cocktail hour, dinner, awards ceremony, and the check presentation.

Other event highlights included the silent auction, hole-in-one and closest to the pin competitions, a new chipping contest, and the Trinity EMS Helicopter Ball Drop, a 50/50 raffle with quite the twist. Each entry is represented by a numbered golf ball that is sent up in a helicopter, which swoops down and dumps the balls onto the 18th green. The ball that is closest to the hole wins. This year, 725 balls were sold, a record-breaker raising $10,000. The lucky winner of the $5,000 prize was Steve Normandin of Chelmsford. Steve is heavily involved in the community and with the hospital, including serving as Chair of Lowell General Hospital's TeamWalk for CancerCare for several years.
The Golf Challenge Committee looks forward to holding another successful event next year at The International with the 25th Anniversary.
