A little snow couldn’t stop over 80 friends of the Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary from gathering on February 12, 2017 for “A Winter Affair with a little Flair” at Vesper Country Club. Guests braved the snowy roads to enjoy a craft cocktail making competition featuring some of the Merrimack Valley’s best bartenders from Evviva Cucina, The Tavern at Lenzi’s and Fuse Bistro. Jimmy Young of Martignetti Liquors and Jay Cahill served as the evening’s emcees and guided guests through the cocktails made with Hammer and Sickle Vodka and Tin Cup Whiskey.
In addition to the cocktail sampling, guests were treated to music by Auxiliary Board Member Alison Burns and a dinner provided by Vesper Country Club. Vesper was decorated with gorgeous floral arrangements donated by local florists that were raffled off to our guests as a pre-Valentine’s Day treat.
Back by popular demand was the much loved wine pull that included a record number of festively wrapped bottles of wine. This fun activity was made possible by the generosity of many local businesses and residents who collectively donated nearly 150 bottles of wine with values ranging between $20 and $200 per bottle. Guests also participated in a raffle to win a diamond necklace donated by Charles Frederick Jewelers and Atlas Travel as well as a Kate Spade Purse and Fur Pom Pom Keychain donated by Dr. and Mrs. Eric Meikle.
The event raised nearly $17,000 to support the Auxiliary’s pledge to the Intensive Care Unit Renovation project at the Main Campus. The Auxiliary has committed to raise $500,000 to fund the construction of a circumferential family waiting area in the ICU as well as an outdoor healing garden.
