The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program® recognizes healthcare organizations for high-quality patient care, exemplary patient outcomes and satisfaction, nursing excellence and innovations in professional practice. Lowell General Hospital achieved Magnet recognition for excellence in patient care in October 2010 and again in both 2015 and 2020.
Health care organizations must reapply for Magnet recognition every four years based on adherence to Magnet concepts and demonstrated improvements in patient care and quality. An organization reapplying for Magnet recognition must provide documented evidence to demonstrate how staff members sustained and improved Magnet concepts, performance and quality over the four-year period since the organization received its previous recognition.
Lowell General is one of ten Magnet-designated healthcare organizations in Massachusetts and one of only 2% of U.S. hospitals nationwide that have achieved Magnet recognition more than once.
