May 20, 2019

Fresh fruits + vegetables will once again be available at Lowell General Hospital’s main + Saints campuses one day per week thanks to Mill City Grows’ Mobile Market.

Mill City Grows and Circle Health have partnered in recent years to improve access to healthy foods and nutritional education, which is identified as a public health priority in the 2016 Community Health Needs Assessment.

Mill City Grows is a Lowell-based non-profit that creates and manages community gardens, urban farms, school garden programs and hold educational programs. One way the organization improves access to fresh-grown produce is their Mobile Market, a farm stand on wheels.

The Mobile Market brings fresh produce directly from their Urban Farm to different neighborhoods in Lowell. This summer, the Mobile Market will be parked at Lowell General Hospital’s main and Saints campuses each Wednesday between noon and 2 p.m. beginning on June 19.
