Merrimack Valley Hospice Teaches Grievers To Navigate Mealtime Solo

September 30, 2021

Lawrence, Mass. – For those who are grieving, navigating new rhythms of grocery shopping, preparing meals and dining without a beloved partner can cause added daily distress.

Recognizing the deep connection between food and mourning, Merrimack Valley Hospice offers “Cooking and Eating for One” classes among its free, virtual support groups offered via the Zoom video conferencing platform.

The series of three interactive workshops, taking place on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will teach straightforward, healthy recipes with minimal ingredients: One Chicken Eight Meals on October 7; Roasted Butternut Squash Soup on November 4; and Very Gingery Gingerbread on December 2. Participants are invited to register for one, two or all three sessions.

Merrimack Valley Hospice’s support groups for adults, children, spouses/partners and individuals in the LGBTQ+ community who are grieving a death are free of charge and open to the public. To register and learn more, call 978.552.4510.
