Medical Staff Scholarships Awarded to Standout Students From Chelmsford + Lowell

July 14, 2022

Students Mia Beauchesne of Chelmsford and Natalia Flores of Lowell are the 2022 recipients of the Lowell General Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship.

The Medical Staff Scholarship program provides financial support to graduating high school seniors who are continuing in a full-time educational program. Students are recognized for exceptional accomplishments in academic, cultural and civic pursuits during their high school careers. The Medical Staff Scholarship Fund is established and maintained by the physicians of Lowell General Hospital. Each year the Medical Staff awards two scholarships to support students who are Lowell General Hospital employees or children of employees, who graduate from secondary school in the spring and are continuing their education in the fall. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years. The Scholarship Committee reviewed the submitted applications and selected Mia and Natalia as the recipients for 2022.

Mia Beauchesne of Chelmsford 2022 Medical Staff Scholardhip Recipient

Mia graduated from Chelmsford High School on Saturday, June 4. She has challenged herself both academically and athletically. Mia was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. During her high school career, Mia completed 21 advanced placement courses and 30 honors courses and made the high academic honor roll all four years. Athletically, she played three sports at a level high enough for her to earn MVC track all-star, JVA soccer MVP and was captain of her basketball and outdoor track teams. Mia participated in a physical education class designed to have mainstream students work one-on-one with students who have special needs in a physical setting. Mia’s ability to break down skills, teach competitive team games and organize a population of students with special needs demonstrates next-level thinking and creativity. One of her teachers stated that “Mia’s academic resume speaks for itself, but it is her ability to solve problems in a number of different ways that will pull her away from the pack.” Mia has been accepted into the Bachelor of Science Nursing Honors Program at Assumption University. Mia is the daughter of Christina Beauchesne, Clinical Staff Pharmacist.

Natalia Flores of Lowell 2022 Medical Staff Scholarship Recipient

Natalia graduated from Lowell High School on Wednesday, June 8. She is described by her teachers as a highly intelligent, diligent, kind-hearted student who leads by example. Natalia was a member of Lowell High School’s Latin Lyceum, a prestigious academy within Lowell High School. She served as Vice President of the National Honor Society and during her high school career Natalia completed 15 advanced placement courses, 14 high honors courses and 25 honors courses. Natalia is also a member of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. She has served as Wing Commander, Drill Team Captain and Commander and is part of the Honor Guard. Her Master Sergeant stated, “If Natalia were to walk in the door as a young Lieutenant and was charged with leading senior service members, I have complete confidence that she would know how to listen, how to lead and more importantly how to inspire and make her teams successful.” Natalia will attend Merrimack College to study Nursing and she has been invited to join their Honors Program. She will join the AFROTC detachment and after receiving her BSN, Natalia plans to commission into the Air Force as an officer and hopes to serve in a medical field position. Natalia is the daughter of Nicole Flores, Pharmacy Technician.

Congratulations to both recipients!
