Respiratory Therapy

Respiratory Therapy is available to inpatients and outpatients. Diagnostic and therapeutic services are provided by licensed and credentialed therapists.

Respiratory therapists evaluate and treat all types of patients, ranging from premature infants whose lungs are not fully developed to elderly people whose lungs are diseased. Respiratory therapists provide temporary relief to patients with chronic asthma or emphysema, as well as emergency care to patients who are victims of a heart attack, stroke, drowning, or shock. Some of the diagnoses or conditions treated include:

  • Asthma
  • Bronchiolitis
  • Chronic lung disease
  • Respiratory distress syndrome
  • Respiratory failure

While the department provides respiratory services to patients of all ages, not every procedure is appropriate to every age group.

We have 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week coverage for inpatient and emergency services. Hours for scheduled outpatient testing are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3:00 pm. The main department phone number is 978-937-6330.

We are located on the ground floor next to X-Ray/Radiology.

Except for emergency responses, Respiratory Therapy services require a physician's order.
