Pediatric Neurology Specialists from Tufts Floating Hospital Provide Expert Care
You don't have to travel far to get the best care for your child.
Through our affiliation with Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, Lowell General provides close-to-home access to some of the top pediatric specialists in the nation at our Pediatric Specialty Center in North Chelmsford.
Our two hospitals are working together to ensure that all the medical services your child needs – from the routine to the more complex – are easily available in your community. So instead of enduring the hassle and expense of traveling into Boston for many advanced services, you can access the care you need right here, close to home.
"The same talent found in Boston is available right in your own back yard," says Douglas Hyder, MD, a board-certified and fellowship trained pediatric neurologist who, together with nurse practitioner Kristen Padulsky, CPNP, provides specialty care for the gamut of childhood neurologic disorders that can affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves or muscles.
"The most common scenarios we see are children with headaches, concussions, tics and other neuromuscular disorders, difficulties with focus and concentration, and sleep disorders," Dr. Hyder explains. Other conditions that pediatric neurologists deal with include seizure disorders and epilepsy, traumatic brain injury and behavior disorders.
"We provide comprehensive evaluations and treatment right here at our specialty center in North Chelmsford, making the experience as convenient and efficient as possible for busy parents," Dr. Hyder says. Of course, if conditions warrant and your child needs higher-level care or diagnostic technology that is only available in Boston, our partnership enables us to coordinate a fast and seamless transfer to Floating Hospital, a world-class children's hospital affiliated with Tufts Medical Center.
Rest assured, Dr. Hyder emphasizes, that he will work closely with your child's physician. "We work as a team with the community-based physician and keep him or her informed and involved in decision-making about your child's care," he says.
Dr. Hyder currently sees patients at The Pediatric Specialty Center at Lowell General Chelmsford, 20 Research Place in North Chelmsford. For appointments, please call 978-937-6362. If you have questions, call the toll-free Message Line at 866-618-5518.
