Lollipop Sales Benefit TeamWalk for CancerCare

Westford resident Kristin Sullivan likes suckers, the lollipop kind of course! She goes to work each year making thousands of chocolate lollipops in the shape of a cancer ribbon to sell as a way to raise money for a cause she is most passionate about - helping cancer patients. This year Kristin, her mom Liz Sullivan, her team co-captain Sarah Webber and her nephew Austin Sullivan went to work making 1,400 lollipops which took a total of 38 hours to create! All the money raised from the sale of the lollipops will benefit Lowell General Hospital's TeamWalk for CancerCare.

Kristin knows first hand the benefits of having a local cancer center like Lowell General's in her backyard. Her dad had kidney cancer in 2010 and was treated at the facility. She can't say enough about the high quality of care and the passionate caretakers that are a part of the hospital. She assembled a team to participate in the hospital's charity walk six years ago, long before she knew the relevance the cancer center would end up having in her life. Now her team, Team Modell's (she works at the Sporting Goods store) consists of about two dozen members who hope to raise $5,000 this year. The team also hosts dinner nights at area restaurants who contribute a percentage back to their team.

"Every year our team gets bigger," said Kristin. "One of our co-workers is a cancer survivor and a team member just got diagnosed with breast cancer. There are a lot of reasons to walk."
