Colon Justice League Honors Lowell 'Wonder Woman'

Johanna ("Jojo") Rodriguez is a Methuen resident and 4th grade teacher at Guilmette Elementary School in Lawrence. At just 39, Rodriguez was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in May of 2012. Rodriguez knew right away that she would receive treatment at Lowell General Hospital's cancer center. Not only was it close by, but she was confident that she would receive top-notch care. Looking back now, she says the compassion, support and encouragement of the Lowell General Hospital staff was crucial to her healing process.

As Lowell General's TeamWalk for CancerCare event approaches, it will mark the one year anniversary of her diagnosis and a chance to celebrate her recovery (she is currently disease free) while helping other cancer patients who are currently going through treatment. Rodriguez has assembled a team of friends and family who will walk to raise money for the cause. Her team name - the Colon Justice League - comes from Rodriquez's love of Wonder Woman and the power she represents. The team has already doubled their fundraising goal by raising $2,000 and counting.
