Team Goes All "Turkey Pants" for the Cause!

Lowell resident Jennifer Pelchat called everyone "turkey pants." She made everyone laugh and smile and feel good about themselves. She loved 80s music and often danced around the Dracut salon she worked at for 19 years. But Jennifer's life was cut short at age 40 when she died of brain cancer in February 2013, leaving behind a husband, 15-year-old son and many friends, co-workers and clients. These same friends have now joined forces to celebrate Jennifer's life and legacy by forming Team "Turkey Pants." The team will walk in Lowell General Hospital's 14th annual TeamWalk for CancerCare.

Jennifer received treatment at Lowell General Hospital's Cancer Center and according to her friend and longtime client, Amy Pessia, also of Lowell, she received world-class care.

"The Cancer Center is as good as any you would find in Boston or across the country. They are amazing," said Pessia. "We say she beat cancer; even though it took some of her away, she won with the impact she had on people's lives."

Diagnosed with brain cancer in 2011, Jennifer stayed positive and upbeat throughout her treatment and final days. Her team wants to remember her for the joy she brought to others and her zest for life. They are currently designing t-shirts and looking for a design that will showcase that zest. Jennifer's husband and son will join the walk as well.
