Knit Caps

Sharing warmth and wishes for wellness

Community Knitter IreneA special group of women in the community have been knitting caps for patients at the cancer center at Lowell General Hospital for many years. With their kindness and love built into each of the beautifully knit caps, they share the beautifully made hats all year round. While these knitters are not with a specific group, some do their craft individually while others work together. All make a difference in providing comfort to someone who is going through treatment for cancer.

The hats are offered in the waiting areas of the Cancer Center for those to who may be preparing for the resulting loss of hair that comes with some treatment can have a soft cover for their head. Each one is unique and is provided free of charge.

The Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital, has earned commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Comprehensive Community Hospital Cancer Program ...but it is the support and caring within our community that helps to add even more warmth to the care and compassion patients find there each day.
