The 24th Annual Golf Challenge, held on Monday, August 19 at The International in Bolton, MA, drew a crowd of 225 attendees for a fantastic day of golf and to raise significant funds for the hospital and our patients.

April 14 was the first community vaccination program held at Lowell General Hospital’s Mass Vaccination Program at the Cross River Center. Thanks to a partnership with the Greater Lowell Health Alliance and about 50 area organizations, about 1,000 members of the hardest-to-reach communities in the region received their first dose vaccination.

The American College of Cardiology has recognized Lowell General Hospital for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in caring for patients who receive diagnostic catheterizations and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures.

As National Nurses Week comes to a close and we usher in National Hospital Week, please join us in honoring all those who have worked so hard to protect our community in this challenging year.

Your initial vaccination offers strong protection against the COVID-19 virus, and are working well to prevent severe illness, hospitalization and death, even against the widely circulating Delta variant. However, public health experts are starting to see reduced protection, especially among certain populations, against mild and moderate disease.

Today the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and Massachusetts Department of Public Health directed providers to pause the administration of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine as they investigate reports of blood clots in six women who received the J&J vaccine. None of these cases appear to have occurred in Massachusetts.

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN has conferred a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence on the intensive care unit at Lowell General Hospital.

When you arrive at Lowell General Hospital’s regional vaccination site, only one brand of COVID-19 vaccine will be offered to patients receiving their first dose. Clinical data shows that all three of the vaccines available to our patients are extremely effective at preventing serious illness and decreasing transmission of the virus in the community.

More than 2,000 babies are born each year at The Birthplace at Lowell General Hospital, but only one can be first.

Lowell General Hospital has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures to treat patients who suffer severe heart attacks.

The Lowell General Hospital Alternative Care Site (ACS) received its first patient from Lowell General at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday, January 4, and officials expect more admissions in the coming days.

Lowell General Hospital received its first delivery of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday, December 18, morning and began staff vaccination clinics the next day.

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHiME) has announced that Lowell General Hospital has once again earned 2019 CHiME HealthCare’s Most Wired™ recognition as a certified level 8.
