Recognizing that a sense of community, shared experiences and connection are especially important this time of year, Merrimack Valley Hospice is offering free support to cope with the holidays.

(April 27, 2020) – Home Health Foundation, a Lawrence-based nonprofit organization providing essential home health and hospice care in all the places patients call home, and Lawrence General Hospital, an independent, nonprofit community hospital providing patient-centered, compassionate and high-quality health care, have teamed to bring enhanced palliative care to patients in the Merrimack Valley.

Lawrence, Mass. – Eric Redard has been promoted to director of volunteers, chaplaincy and bereavement services at Merrimack Valley Hospice, a Lawrence-based nonprofit organization providing comfort care and supportive services to patients nearing the end of life and bereavement services to their families and loved ones.

Diane Farraher-Smith, MSN, MBA, RN, former President of Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice System VP of MelroseWakefield Healthcare and former Interim Executive Director of Circle Home, joins the Home Health Foundation (HHF) Executive Management Committee (EMC) as Chief Clinical Integration Officer.

Lowell, Mass.  – Ever since they became eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, 79-year-old Mary-Ellen Stewart has tried in vain to book appointments for her and her 80-year-old husband, John Stewart Sr. Yet even if there was availability near the Billerica home they have shared for 55 years of their six-decade long marriage, she worried about the physical and emotional stress of helping transport her electric wheelchair-bound spouse.

Lawrence, Mass. – Home Health VNA has awarded a scholarship presented annually in memory of a former employee to Rechelly Paula, a Lawrence resident and graduate of the Health Careers Department at Greater Lawrence Technical School in Andover. Paula plans to study nursing at Barry University in Miami this fall with the goal of becoming a physician assistant.
