Email PageThe Fifth Annual Lowell General Hospital Ball for Community Health Initiatives a Shining Success
March 6, 2010 marked the 5th Anniversary of Lowell General Hospital's Ball for Community Health Initiatives. A sold out crowd of 500 guests enjoyed dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, which was transformed into a décor reminiscent of sultry New Orleans. Under the leadership of committee co-chairs Dr. Denise Mills and Dr. Matthew Savory, the gala raised more than $200,000 to support community health initiatives in our region.
Anniversary Sponsor KLIN Spirits was joined by Platinum Sponsor Enterprise Bank, Gold Sponsors New England Inpatient Specialists and Merrimack Valley Pathology, and Silver Sponsors Commonwealth Radiology Associates, Lowell Anesthesiology, Merrimack Valley Emergency Associates, Trinity EMS, Eastern Bank and Demoulas Foundation.
Through the generous support of corporate sponsors and Ball patrons, funds this year will benefit highlighted initiatives including the "Beds for Kids" program of The Lowell Wish Project, which provides new beds and bedding for at-risk children in the city. In collaboration with Health and Education Services, Inc. (HES), a public service campaign to promote mental health awareness and resources in the Greater Lowell area will be launched this spring.
The Lowell General Hospital Ball was established in 2006 by the hospital, its dedicated medical staff and concerned members of the community to generate awareness and funds to help address significant health issues facing our community. Net proceeds benefit the hospital's Community Health Initiatives programs including Breastfeeding Support Groups, Healthy Readers: Read Early, Read often! Children's Literacy Program, smoking awareness program in the Lowell Public Schools, and more.
