October 27, 2010 – Lowell, Mass. – For the twenty-fourth year, the Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary hosted its Annual Taste of the Town. The sold-out event, held at the UMASS Inn and Conference Center in Lowell, brought together some of the area’s finest restaurants and caterers and raised nearly $50,000 in support of the hospital and its patients.

Votes for the People’s Choice Awards for 2010 brought accolades to the following winners:

• Best Appetizer: Scali Shrimp Scampi by Bailey’s Bar and Grille (Townsend)
• Best Entrée: Porcini Crusted Sea Bass over Lobster Mashed Potatoes by Two Chefs are Better Than One (Lowell)
• Best Dessert: Chocolate Caramel Tarts by I Dream of Jeanne Cakes (Billerica)

In addition to the People Choice Awards, the Auxiliary awarded a new category, the Chairmen’s Choice, to the best table presentation and décor. Two Chefs Are Better than One received this inaugural award for a display featuring live orchids and tiered glass pedestals.

The Taste of the Town is made possible by the generosity and hard work of the eighteen restaurant and caterers as well as attendees. This year’s restaurants included: Bailey's Bar and Grille, Bianco's Catering, Café Madrid, Cavaleiro's Restaurant, Centro Restaurant & Bar, Cobblestones of Lowell, Fireside Catering, Gibbet Hill Grill, I Dream of Jeanne Cakes, L’Andana Restaurant, Moonstones, Ricardo's Café Trattoria, Saffron Bistro, Sodexo, Sprigs Restaurant & Bar, Two Chefs Are Better Than One, UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, and Westford Grille.
