Lowell General Hospital Welcomed Former New England Patriot and Guest Judge Jarvis Green After Being Voted a People’s Choice Winner in Massachusetts Health Council’s Culinary Competition

October 29, 2013 – Lowell, MA - After being named a People's Choice winner at the Massachusetts Health Council's "Best of the Best" culinary chef's competition, Lowell General Hospital welcomed Jarvis Green, guest judge and former New England Patriot, to its main campus this month. The hospital's Food and Nutrition Team wowed the crowd with its Circle Health Seafood Crostini Sampler, filled with lobster, crab and shrimp, and was voted as one of the top three dishes by event attendees. The Massachusetts Health Council's annual awards gala hosted over 500 attendees at the Boston Renaissance Waterfront Hotel, including healthcare leaders, legislators and stakeholders. Guests sampled healthy culinary creations from fifteen different area hospitals and voted along with the judges on their favorite offerings.

Green, one of the guest judges at the gala, visited the award-winning hospital later that week to meet staff and serve up his own New Orleans Shrimp House hibachi garlic butter shrimp for a lunchtime entrée. After the retiring from the NFL, Green pursued his interest in cooking and entered into the food industry. He is the owner of New Orleans Shrimp House as well as a board member at Innovative Food and Biotechnology Group, which provides domestic, wild caught shrimp using sustainable practices across the board. While Lowell General staff sampled his shrimp dish, Green generously signed their Patriots helmets, shirts and memorabilia as well as posted for photos with the fans and his Super Bowl ring.
