Lowell General Hospital Named a Top Place to Work by Boston Business Journal

Elevates Ranking Among the Top 25 Large Businesses in Massachusetts

2011 BBJ logoJune 15, 2011 – Lowell, Mass. – Lowell General Hospital is proud to be honored for the second year among 25 large businesses included in the Boston Business Journal's (BBJ) Best Places to Work list. The community-owned hospital with 2,000 employees placed fifteenth of all large businesses in Massachusetts.

"Our employees are front and center of the many accomplishments of Lowell General Hospital; making us an employer of choice, a positive place to work, and a trusted regional healthcare provider," said Normand E. Deschene, president and chief executive officer. "Great employees mean quality care. I am proud that our employees are committed to helping us find ways to continuously improve – whether it's professional development, better decision-making or quality initiatives. This makes our hospital a great place to work and an even better place to receive health care."

The BBJ selects the top 25 employers from each large, medium and small business category based on employee count. As greater Lowell's largest private employer, Lowell General Hospital qualifies as a large business. The annual ranking by the business publication is based upon a third-party survey of all employees regarding job satisfaction, teamwork, benefits programs, management quality, work environment and opportunities for growth, among other criteria.

2011 Becker LogoEarlier in this year, Lowell General Hospital was recognized by Becker's Hospital Review/Becker's ASC Review as a 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare organization. Lowell General Hospital was among the Top 20 large business category on the BBJ Best Places to Work in 2010 and was also on the Boston Globe Top 100 Places to Work in 2009 and 2010.
