Lowell General Hospital Earns National Recognition for Nursing Excellence

Magnet AwardOctober 8, 2010 – Lowell, Mass. – Lowell General Hospital is proud to announce that it has achieved Magnet® designation for excellence in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. Magnet recognition is one of the highest levels of recognition a hospital can achieve.

The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes healthcare organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing practices and adherence to national standards for the organization and delivery of nursing services.

Applicants undergo a rigorous evaluation that includes extensive interviews and review of all nursing services. Research shows that there are clear benefits to hospitals that are recognized with Magnet status and to the community they serve:

  • Healthcare consumers have more confidence in the overall quality of the hospital if it has achieved the level of excellence established by the Magnet Recognition Program.

ANCC MagnetThe largest and most prominent nursing credentialing organization in the United States, the ANCC grants Magnet status to qualifying hospitals for a four-year period.
