Lowell General Hospital Awards Medical Staff Scholarships

Local Students Receive Support to Pursue Higher Education in Field of Health Science

June 6, 2011 – Lowell, Mass. – Local community scholars Nicole Boisvert and Rosette Chhor were awarded the Lowell General Hospital Medical Staff Scholarships for 2011. Both students were recognized for their exceptional accomplishments in areas of academic, cultural, athletic, and civic efforts during their high school careers.

Nicole Boisvert is the daughter of Maria Boisvert, Interventional Radiology Supervisor at Lowell General Hospital. Nicole is a graduate of Lowell Catholic High School and will attend UMass Amherst in the fall. She will enter UMass Amherst as a Biology major and hopes to attend medical school. As a scholar athlete and community volunteer, and through her genuine care for the wellbeing of others, Nicole demonstrates tremendous skills that will contribute to her success in the health science field.

Rosette Chhor works part-time at Lowell General Hospital as a concierge in the front lobby. She is a graduate of Dracut High School and will attend the University of Rhode Island in the fall. Rosette will enter the university's six-year Doctor of Pharmacy program and has plans to contribute to medicinal care both in the community and abroad. She is recognized for her many achievements including extensive leadership positions and community involvement.

The Medical Staff Scholarship Fund is established and maintained by the physicians of the hospital. The fund supports the future of healthcare with a financial award to graduating high school/secondary school seniors are Lowell General Hospital employees (or children of employees) and who are enrolling in a heath science program.
