Email PageLowell General Hospital Auxiliary’s 26th Annual Taste of the Town serves up success for Merrimack Valley residents
November 2, 2012 - Lowell, MA – Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary's 26th Annual Taste of the Town welcomed more than 350 guests as they dined on the culinary creations from eighteen local restaurants and caterers. The popular event, held at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center, raised over $52,000 for Lowell General Hospital.
Attendees voted on their favorite tasting dishes, naming participating restaurants and caterers as "People's Choice Award" winners, including:
- Best Appetizer: Local Butternut Squash Capellacci with almond "milk" sage and crushed amaretti by Moonstones
- Best Entrée: Cherry Glazed and Braised Beef Short Ribs with Bourbon Sweet Potato Mashed, Buttered Edamame Beans and Crispy Parsnip Chips by Napa East
- Best Dessert: Panna Cotta di Caramello by L'Andana
In addition to the "People's Choice Awards", the Auxiliary presented the Chairmen's Choice Award, a prize for the best table presentation and décor, to Gibbet Hill Grill.
"The generosity of our community, combined with the talent of our local restaurants makes the evening a tremendous success," said Mary Bennett, Lowell General Auxiliary President. "We are proud to celebrate our 26th year of the event to support Lowell General Hospital."
The festivities included the Parade of Chefs, a live auction and eighteen raffle baskets. The evening's most popular auction item, generously donated by Trinity EMS, was a weekend in New York City, accommodations at the luxurious Michelangelo Hotel and tickets to a Broadway show.
The Lowell General Hospital Auxiliary would like to thank the eighteen participants for their hard work and generosity: Bianco's Catering, The Capital Grille, Carrabba's, Cavaleiro's Restaurant, Centro Restaurant & Bar, Cobblestones of Lowell, Frederick's Pastries, Gibbet Hill Grill, I Dream of Jeanne Cakes, L'Andana Restaurant, Moonstones, Morrison Healthcare, Napa East, Ricardo's Café Trattoria, Rufina's, Sodexo, Two Chefs Are Better Than One, and UMass Lowell Inn & ConferenceCenter.
