Lowell General Hospital's Business Leadership Forum Celebrates the Impact of Technology and Innovation on the Greater Lowell Community and Beyond
April 9, 2009 - Lowell, MA - Lowell General Hospital hosted a full house for its spring Business Leadership Forum on Thursday, April 2nd. Guest speaker, Gururaj "Desh" Deshpande, PhD led the program titled "The Impact of Technology and Innovation Globally and in the Merrimack Valley."
A well-known, successful Merrimack Valley entrepreneur, Dr. Deshpande is the co-founder and Chairman of Sycamore Networks, serves on the board of directors of Airvana, Inc. and is chairman of many other technology companies. While Dr. Deshpande's A123 Systems was recently announced to be the lithium-ion battery supplier of Chrysler's new hybrid car lines, his key remarks to the Lowell General audience focused on his belief that the downturn in the global economy will turn around. He has great confidence in U.S.-based innovations, including those in the Merrimack Valley region.
Lowell General has implemented the use of advanced technologies and innovation to achieve success in the healthcare sector, demonstrated by winning the nation's 100 Most Wired named by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine, as well as the introduction of the Skylight system available for patients. Over the past several years, Lowell General Hospital's technology and quality innovations have achieved nation and regional recognition and regularly serve as a showcase for patient care and technology integration for hospitals and healthcare networks in the U.S. and abroad.
The Business Leadership Forum is a community leadership initiative of Lowell General Hospital. The Forum offers business leaders and owners in the Merrimack Valley the opportunity to come together to discuss issues that impact their employees, businesses and community.
