Message to the Community

Dear Friends,

It's important to feel good about the community we live in. And contributing to the health of our Greater Lowell community is truly our pleasure, our privilege, our honor and our duty.

This week is recognized nationwide as Nurses Week and Hospital Week. It is with great pride that we take a moment to publicly celebrate the women and men of Lowell General Hospital and Saints Medical Center who give their very best to deliver the highest quality of care to the individuals they serve in our hospitals, and beyond.

It is also an unprecedented opportunity to acknowledge our recent decision to merge our two hospitals and our respective staffs, as our union presents us with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to expand and build upon our vision for being one of the very best community hospitals in America.

Together, our organization will share and evolve our patient-centered commitment to assuring our community has easy, affordable access to the highest quality primary and specialty care possible. We will work together to expand the depth and breadth of needed services, from preventive care and wellness to the most advanced clinical services for critically ill residents.

Our collaboration will assure our ability to continue to keep healthcare costs down as we expand our capabilities to serve our community, continuing to invest in technology and clinical expertise as well as our team of caregivers who strive to assure every patient's needs are met with skill and compassion.

Together, our medical staff will continue to offer outstanding clinical expertise and dedication to advancing our ability to provide excellence in primary and advanced specialty care. The collaboration of this extraordinary team of medical professionals will assure we are able to continue to recruit and retain the most talented, committed physicians, nurses and caregivers.

Also essential to our shared vision is a unified board that will continue to be locally-governed, with leaders who represent our ongoing commitment to grow and evolve to assure we anticipate and meet our communities' healthcare needs.

Both organizations have been diligently collaborating to seamlessly integrate into one hospital. An integration Steering Committee, made up equally of Saints and Lowell General employees, is helping lead both hospitals through the complex process of actually merging two different organizations, and we will continue to keep our staff informed and involved as these initiatives continue.

We want to thank our employees for their dedication to providing the very best care to our patients every minute of every day and for their professionalism and enthusiasm in seeing new opportunities for building an even better Lowell General and Saints.
