Email PageLowell General Hospital Celebrates Grand Opening of 14 Research Place Facility
Lowell General Hospital celebrated the opening of its new facility at 14 Research Place in North Chelmsford, on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Joined by Chelmsford town officials, hospital employees and physicians, the hospital hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting and reception to officially open the new 31,258 square foot medical office building located between 10 and 20 Research Place.
The new building at 14 Research Place brings greater access to healthcare specialists and services, with close proximity to care and support services such as outpatient testing, imaging, day surgery, therapy, and other supportive care. 120 staff and physicians will occupy the new space, including Merrimack Valley Cardiology, Orthopaedic Surgical Associates and Merrimack Valley Spine Center.
"We are here to celebrate the opening of not only the new 14 Research Place building, but in reality, a new campus," said Jody White, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Lowell General Hospital. "This $10 million dollar expansion brings an extensive array of new, high quality, leading edge outpatient services to the Chelmsford community and beyond. It also provides improved access to medical care and physician practices, and unifies this campus, establishing Lowell General Chelmsford as the premiere outpatient facility in the Merrimack Valley."
The hospital was joined by Chelmsford officials including Chelmsford Town Manager Paul Cohen, Representatives from the Board of Selectmen Jon Kurland, James Lane and Pat Wojtas; Planning Board Members Susan Carter, Colleen Stansfield and S. George Zaharoolis; and David McLachlan from the Conservation Commission. Leaders from Pro Con, Inc., Equity Alliance, The Edge Group, Inc., Doonan Architects and Watermark Environmental; and other key project supporters were also in attendance.
