June is National Migraine & Headache Awareness Month

The best solution for headaches is prevention

Prevention is safer, more convenient, and more beneficial to overall health

Lifestyle modifications that may help include:

  • Adequate hydration by drinking at least six eight ounce glasses of water every day and limiting caffeine intake (coffee, cola, and tea).
  • Eat a healthy diet and avoid a drop in blood sugar by not skipping meals.
  • Get regular exercise and maintain good posture while sitting at work.
  • Maintain a regular sleep schedule, if possible, even on the weekends. Go to bed and wake up at the same time.
  • Avoid headache triggers. These are different for everyone and can include: red wine, beer, cheese, smoked foods, wheat products, MSG, and artificial sweeteners. Some triggers are unavoidable such as pollen, a drop in barometric pressure, hot humid weather, and menstruation.
