At Lowell General, we believe in rewarding the hard work of our employees with a generous benefits program that we are continually improving and upgrading. We try hard to meet the needs of our employees because we strive to foster a great work environment. Below is a list of the benefits we currently offer:

Earned Time (Paid Time Off)

Lowell General Hospital provides paid time off for employees for the purpose of rest, relaxation, illness, holidays, personal and family needs. The Lowell General Hospital Earned Time Program gives employees more flexibility in scheduling time off to meet family needs and balance work and family life.

Employees accrue a bank of earned time to be used for holidays, illness, vacation or personal time. The number of Earned Time days available to you each year will depend on your years of service and number of hours worked.

Health Insurance

We offer Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO New England, a comprehensive medical plan. You may select from the following coverage levels: employee only, employee plus one, or family. You receive prescription drug coverage through Innoviant and we also offer an on-site employee pharmacy. Your health plan also offers basic vision services and a weigh loss and fitness benefit discount. VSP, a vision insurance plan, is also available to you.

Dental Coverage

For dental coverage, you will be offered Delta Dental Preferred, a top-tier, comprehensive dental plan. You may elect from the following coverage levels: employee only, employee plus one, or family.

Life Insurance

Available to all eligible employees at no additional cost.

Disability

A separate accrual of Extended Illness Bank is used for short-term illnesses. The EIB accrues annually based on an employee's weekly hours. Also available is a Short Term Disability Plan. The employees may elect coverage for up to 70% salary replacement for an illness of less than 90 days. Group Long-Term Disability coverage is also available. LTD provides up to 50% of pre-disability income after three months of disability with specified offsets for other benefits you receive on account of disability.

Flexible Spending Accounts

You may establish a reimbursement account for Health Care and/or Dependent Care expenses. The maximum amount for health care benefit is $3,000 annually per family pre-tax. The maximum amount for Dependent care is $5,000 annually per family pre-tax.

Retirement Benefits

Lowell General Hospital offers Tax Sheltered Annuities 403(b) that permit you to voluntarily save for retirement on a pre-tax basis.

Tuition Reimbursement

Depending on length of service and number of hours worked, employees can receive up to $3,000 for job related program courses or certifications per academic year. We also offer tuition discounts and assistance in our partnership programs with Rivier University, University of Phoenix and UMass Lowell.
