Gathering Your Breast Care Team

At the Cancer Center you'll find many people to help you be a survivor. Staff from many different specialties are here to help you: cancer doctors such as radiation and medical oncologists, diagnostic radiologists and surgeons; radiation therapists; nurses who provide you with care, treatment, and education; social workers to help you and your family with ways to support each other; physical therapists; nutritionists and more.

To help you understand all the facts, terms and options, we will connect you with the entire breast care team for a Multi-disciplinary Breast Conference. At this Breast Conference you will spend two to three hours meeting each of your caregivers and those who will help you begin to resolve the uncertainties you may have. Everyone will be able to provide you with a direct path, a complete treatment approach and a clear understanding about your condition. In addition to our medical consultation we can also arrange with our colleagues in Boston another opinion if you desire, so that you have the confidence of receiving the best treatment plan available anywhere.

At this meeting and at any point in your care, you are welcomed and encouraged to bring a family member or friend with you. You may even record the Breast Health Conference if you'd like to refer back to it at home or with others you choose.

We are proud to provide such a model of coordinated care for women facing breast cancer; not because we are the first to do so in the region, but because it is the best approach to care for our patients in the Greater Lowell Community.
