Breast Cancer Program
As the most diagnosed cancer for women, a breast cancer diagnosis can be frightening and confusing. So can test results that point to other, non-cancerous, breast health concerns.
At The Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital you can turn to people who know the facts and can help you understand what they mean to you. You may come to us because of a questionable finding on mammography, a doctor's request for a core biopsy, or a diagnosis of breast cancer. Whatever your reason, here you'll find explanations, in terms you can understand and care that is convenient, compassionate and clinically advanced.
A Woman is Never Alone With a Breast Cancer Diagnosis
From the beginning, you'll have a caring and knowledgeable Breast Health Navigator to walk you through every step of your care, to lead you through the process, answer your questions, and guide you through whatever tests, procedures and treatment you may need. She will assemble your team of medical experts for a multi-disciplinary Breast Conference, where the group will meet with you to help define your diagnosis, review your options, answer your questions and provide a clear, direct path to approach your breast cancer that you are comfortable with. Care here is coordinated and seamless across your doctors and caregivers, problems are solved and uncertainties are resolved. Learn more about our Multidisciplinary Consultation.

Quality and Convenience of Care
The care you'll receive at The Cancer Center goes beyond the comprehensive state-of-the-art treatment options delivered in a modern, comforting environment by the area's most highly trained cancer care team. We are here to give you resources and support for your family members. From services that will help you feel better about yourself including exercise programs and mind/body medicine therapies like yoga, tai chi, Reiki, and art therapy, to ways to talk about, learn from and share your experience through support groups such as the Look Good, Feel Better program. From programs to help your children understand what you are going through to assistance with paperwork and logistics of receiving care we are here for you the whole way through. And, we keep you apprised of local vendors offering Wig/Hair Prosthesis & Mastectomy Products.
Keeping Your Breasts Healthy
Lowell General Hospital strives to serve all women in the community with resources and services to support breast cancer prevention and early detection as well as the care following a diagnosed condition. Genetic testing for women at risk, digital mammography services and educational guidance are just a few of the initiatives that we have to help women live well.
Lowell General Hospital has recently been recognized as a Certified Participant of the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program (NQMBC™). This distinguished honor represents a commitment by LGH's breast center to provide the highest level of quality breast health care to patients in its community. Click here to learn more.
