Walking into The Children's Place at Lowell General Hospital, parents and children are greeted by brightly colored hallways and the smiling faces of a physician and nursing staff committed to making you and your child as comfortable as possible and giving your child the highest quality care. Understanding that the hospitalization of a child can be a stressful experience for families, The Children's Place is a family-centered unit, designed so families can stay together when kids need inpatient medical care. And with our partnership with Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, we'll ensure your child receives Boston-level specialty care.

Pediatric Specialists On Site 24/7

When your child is admitted to the hospital, you want him/her seen by a pediatric specialist as soon and as often as possible. At Lowell General Hospital we understand that your pediatrician is not available 24/7 to see your child. That's why at The Children's Place we provide highly trained pediatric specialists on-site 24/7 for children admitted to the pediatrics unit or needing emergency care in our Emergency Department. Through our affiliation with The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, we ensure that when your child needs a doctor's care, she'll get it.

A Friendly Place Made Just For Kids

We help make your child's stay with us as pleasant as possible - for both you and your child. The rooms have colorful over-stuffed chairs big enough for a parent to fit and cuddle a child. At night, they unfold into a twin-sized bed so that parents can stay overnight with their children. Parents or guardians receive a free continental breakfast each morning their child stays as an inpatient.

Each room is equipped with its own television and an Internet connection. Our newly installed Skylight Access® Interactive Patient System provides (with parental approval) FREE family movies and computer games.

A family room, stocked with more toys for all ages and a television/DVD player along with a complete library of videos, offers a place for patients and families to relax.

Security is a priority at The Children's Place. The high-tech security system limits guests on the floor to family and friends and keeps even adventuresome children safe and sound.

Child-Focused Care

We are committed to making your child as comfortable as possible while in the hospital, especially during procedures such as drawing blood. These procedures are done in a special treatment room that is equipped with supplies to help make children feel more at ease.

Our pain-free approach combines developmentally and age appropriate techniques to help ease children's angst about potentially painful procedures.

Our specially trained staff includes physicians, nurses, nutritionists, pharmacists, physical therapists and social workers who work together as a team to help your child recover quickly and return home.
