Arterial and Venous Thrombolysis

Breaking Up the Clot (Thrombolysis)

If a blood clot is discovered in an artery or a vein (DVT), a clot-busting drug can be injected to the site of the blockage and dissolve the clot to restore blood flow. This technique is called arterial or venous thrombolysis. Some conditions that may require this included malfunctioning AV fistula and Femoral artery bypass grafts.
