Interventional Radiology
Interventional Radiology is an exciting, rapidly evolving sub-specialty of the Lowell General Radiology Department and is an important advance in patient care. Using advanced imaging technology (X-ray, Ultrasound, CT Scan), we are able to perform minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that are often an alternative to surgery.
Specially trained doctors, called Interventional Radiologists, perform Angio/Interventional procedures in our state of the art Philips Digital Angiography suite. Interventional Radiologists treat conditions non-operatively using small catheters or catheter based devices guided by radiologic imaging. These procedures are less traumatic to the patient, involve smaller incisions, less pain and shorter hospital stays.
If you require an Interventional Radiology procedure, your physician's office will arrange for scheduling.
The Interventional Radiology Team, all with training in Interventional Radiology, is available M-F 7:30 - 4:30pm. We would be pleased to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you many have regarding the nature of the procedures offered. Please feel free to call us at 978-937-6909. Both physicians and technical staff are available 24hrs per day for emergencies.
