The Heart Center
In January 2004, Lowell General Hospital was approved to provide primary (emergency) angioplasty, a life-saving procedure that is often the first line of survival for those suffering coronary heart failure. In 2006, we began non-emergency angioplasty, an advanced heart procedure that can help stop a heart attack before it happens and prevent cardiac damage.
The recovery process from such cutting-edge cardiac procedures requires the close monitoring and careful progress that is provided in the Intensive Care Unit. Patients often progress smoothly through Critical Care Services, moving from ICU into Intermediate Care and often safely return home in just a few days.
