Give to LGH

Health Science Library

In support of our mission statement "Patients first in everything we do," the Health Science Library can be used by patients of Lowell General Hospital and their families at no cost. You must be a current inpatient or outpatient, or family member of a current inpatient or outpatient of the hospital, or resident of Greater Lowell within our service area seeking personal health information (not for business purposes) to receive direct services.

Additionally, the LGH Health Science Library can be used by any LGH staff member for hospital business as well as for personal health concerns. Information requests are always welcome, including but not limited to clinical queries, assistance with research, and requests for materials suitable for patients.

Barcode access to periodical databases is provided for LGH staff. Members of the general public may obtain a barcode from participating Northeast Massachusetts Regional Library System (NMRLS) member libraries.

Location

The Health Science Library is located on the third floor of the Hanchett Building. From the Information Desk (main entrance), go through the entrance, take a LEFT. Follow the corridor, which turns to the RIGHT. Go halfway down the corridor to the elevator on the RIGHT. Go to the THIRD FLOOR. Once there, take a LEFT. We are through the doors to the RIGHT.

Hours

The library is currently staffed Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. When there is serious need, the library can be used by authorized individuals after hours by contacting Security.

After hours, electronic "live chat" professional reference service is now available to library patrons throughout the NMRLS (Northeast Mass. Regional Library System) service area at AnswersTo Go. We hope that this innovative service will be useful to you when the Health Science Library is closed.
