March 2008
Rosa Rivera
Radiology Department
"This world would be a better place with a few more Rosa's around," is what co-workers say about Rosa Rivera, our March Star Performer of the Month.
Rosa, a full-time Radiology Technologist Aide in Diagnostic X-Ray, has served patients in many different capacities during her eight-year career at LGH. She first began in Housekeeping and Patient Transport, transferring to Radiology in 2001. In her role, she helps prepare patients for tests, scans films, sets up rooms for exams, and assists in transferring patients. Her gentle nature and calming manner helps ease patients, who are often very anxious about their exams.
"Rosa makes every patient feel comfortable and at ease during their exam. Her skills and experience are invaluable to the radiologists and technologists she supports," says Radiologist Dan Gale, MD.
Her commitment to our Standards of Performance is clear in her everyday interactions with patients, and her co-workers as well. She is known for her constant smile, always accepting tasks willingly and with a "can-do" attitude. Whether she is setting up rooms for procedures, ordering supplies, stocking rooms or changing patients pre-exam, Rosa's co-workers know how important she is to their department. She is known to go the extra mile for patients, by bringing them back to their room, staying late when her shift is done, helping communication with Spanish-speaking patients -whatever it takes.
Mickey Martinez, RTR, Radiology Supervisor, says that Rosa's rapport with fellow co-workers and radiologists is extraordinary. She is known to always wear a smile and eagerly help out, no matter what the task.
Rosa lives in Lowell with her husband Roberto and enjoys playing with her dog "Bobby", shopping, going to concerts, and traveling.
Congratulations, Rosa. You're a Star!
