Star Performer, Dawn Artur"The first to take the lead and drive the department towards the latest trends and technology," is how co-workers describe Dawn Artur, our January Star Performer of the Month.
Dawn recently celebrated her tenth anniversary with LGH in December. As the manager of Pre-Services in the Patient Access department, Dawn manages 32 team members in Central Scheduling, Pre-Registration, and Benefit Coordination. Her team handles all preauthorizations, referrals, and benefit coordination for inpatients and surgical patients - "everything that needs to be done so we are paid" says Dawn.

"Dawn sets the bar high in terms of her work ethic and the standards she sets for her staff," says Bill Wyman, MS, Director of HIM/Patient Access. "She has successfully built up the pre-registration area from its earliest beginnings to a highly successful group of individuals that continuously meet their performance metrics." She is always proactive in seeing things from the patient's point of view, to be certain the department provides the best possible service. During high volume periods she is known to put aside her own work to help her team get the job done.

Her dedication to her staff and the overall success of the department was recently exemplified as she took on a "Superuser" role in ELMER implementation, and she continues to resolve and streamline processes relating to ELMER. She is known as the "go to" person for the latest updates in Patient Access systems, including Paragon system updates, providing training materials for staff and coaching and mentoring them on new processes.

"Dawn has an incredibly quick wit that can bring laughter during normally tense situations," says Danielle Pinard, Manager of Patient Services. She is a professional through and through, and I know we can always count on her input."

Dawn lives in Nashua with her husband John and is expecting her first child in May. She is an avid sports fan and enjoys attending all sporting events with her family.
