February 2008
Stacey Villare, CNCR
Operating Room
"A true leader - resourceful, genuine, and an experienced mentor," is how co-workers describe Stacey Villare, CNCR, our February Star Performer of the Month.
Stacey, who has been with LGH since 2003, currently serves as a Service Leader in the Operating Room (OR). A highly skilled RN, Stacey obtained her certification in OR Nursing (CNCR), and found her niche in Orthopedic Service. In this role, she sees that the needs of the Orthopedic Surgeons and their specialty teams are met by ensuring they have the right equipment at the right time. She is known for her self-reliance and resourcefulness - two key factors in any successful OR.
"Stacey's effective interpersonal skills and upbeat personality helps create and maintain solid relationships with patients, physicians, and members of the Surgical Services team," says supervisor Walter Szuksta, RN, Clinical Manager in the OR. "The Orthopedic Surgeons always find Stacey a joy to work with, as her organizational skills and strong work ethic help ease their busy OR schedule."
Wally says that Stacey is a born leader, as evidenced by her self-motivation in learning ELMER and taking on the role of "Superuser" to train staff on new procedures and technologies with our new Electronic Medical Record/Clinical Information System.
Stacey also volunteers her time to better our hospital and the community. She serves on the LGH "Green Team" to improve recycling efforts, takes an active role in the Nursing Skills Day and the Safety Fair, and also serves on the Unit-based Council.
"We all look at Stacey as a role model, as she commits one hundred percent to her job performance every day," says co-worker Nancy Reno, Ortho Coordinator in the OR. She says that no matter how busy Stacey's schedule, she is a team player and jumps at the opportunity to train new surgical RNs in Orthopedic Services.
Stacey lives in Chelmsford with her husband, Geno. In her spare time she enjoys riding with Geno on his motorcycle during the summer and vacationing in Maine.
Congratulations, Stacey. You're a Star!
