Peter J. Zarrilla, MS, M.Ed.

Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer

Peter ZarillaPeter J. Zarrilla serves as Chief Human Resources Officer. Prior to joining the Lowell General team, Peter served as Senior Human Resources Consultant at Private Health Care Systems in Waltham, Mass. For more than 20 years, he had held human resource management positions in the Boston-area high-tech and service-related organizations.

His role at Lowell General includes continuously improving staffing effectiveness, developing initiatives and programs that meet the needs of Lowell General's present and potential employees, and positioning the hospital as an employer of choice in the region. In 2009, the employees rated the hospital as a Boston Globe Top 100 Places to Work and in 2010 a Boston Business Journal Best Place to Work.

Mr. Zarrilla is a member of the VHA’s Northeast Strategic Advisory Council and the Massachusetts Hospital Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lowell, House of Hope, and the Massachusetts Hospital Association Insurance Corp.

Mr. Zarrilla holds an M.Ed in Counseling from Westfield State College, an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from American International College, and a B.S. in Zoology/Psychology from The University of New Hampshire.
