At Tufts Medical Center, Professional Governance is the foundation for establishing a trustworthy professional practice environment.

Overview

With this in place, we ensure a progressive clinical practice environment that recognizes excellence in care at the bedside, stimulates open communication among colleagues, provides recognition for contribution of individual as well as the work of teams, and facilitates the empowerment of staff for participation in shared decision making process. Transformation is achieved through a combined practice model using the following nursing theories: Watson Theory of Caring, Leininger’s Theory of Transcultural Caring and Neuman’s Theory of Individuality.
