The Emergency Departments at Lowell General Hospital's Main Campus and Saints Campus have Emergency Medicine and Surgical specialists available around-the-clock to care for patients experiencing serious acute illness and traumatic injuries.

Emergency Care Can Save Your Life

At Lowell General, our highly trained staff is ready to help with even the most serious illnesses and traumas. In fact, Lowell General Hospital's Main Campus has been verified as a Levell III Trauma Center.

If you have any of the following symptoms, dial 911, and seek medical attention immediately:

  • Chest pain
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Severe burns
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Sudden slurred speech or an unsteady gait

When moments count, Lowell General Hospital's Emergency Departments offer immediate care when you need it.

Qualified trauma surgeons and physicians, specially trained in critical care, clinical emergencies, cardiac methods and advanced cardiac support are available to provide the most comprehensive emergency care possible. We also have staff available in surgery, anesthesia, radiology, cardiology, internal medicine, gynecology, obstetrics, pediatrics, neurology, and orthopedics, as well as other medical specialties including on-site Primary Angioplasty.

Our Emergency Departments offer convenience, efficiency, and comfort. They include specialized areas for cardiac care; ear, nose and throat disorders; orthopedic injuries and casting, mental health and an area for complete examinations. Additionally, state-of-the-art diagnostic services are available for assessment and diagnosis 24/7. A family area is provided for private discussion.

Patients requiring serious, highly specialized emergency care may be transported to our affiliate Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, via a MedFlight helicopter or in an Advanced Life Support Ambulance (ALS).

Urgent Care

Lowell General also has two satellite Urgent Care facilities - Circle Health Westford and our Walk-in Center in Lowell.
